A man’s body was pulled from the waters of Hackney Wick Canal yesterday morning (June 1), prompting police enquiries.
Police were called to the River Lea Navigation canal at 11am yesterday after a body was reportedly found. It was recovered from the canal shortly afterwards, according to a Metropolitan Police spokesperson.
The body is as yet unidentified. Witnesses say the police were seen at the bridge at White Post Lane, next to the Crate Brewery, around lunchtime.
Commenting on Twitter, Alexander Luke Petch said: “Just walked past a body bag and a ton of police on the canal path by me in #hackneywick.”
Officers from Tower Hamlets MPS are now making enquiries to establish the man’s identity and the circumstances of his death.
