The body of a woman was found in the water at Shadwell Basin over the bank holiday weekend.
Emergency services arrived at the scene between Wapping and Shadwell at around midday on Monday in response to sightings of a body in the water, police have said.
A team from the Metropolitan Police’s marine unit based nearby in Wapping were then called to the scene and the body was removed.
The woman has not been formally identified and police say they are not treating the death as suspicious.
The Met has said however that detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
