Bands, artists and circus performers will descend on Tower Hamlets this weekend for the eight London International Tattoo Convention.
The event, running from Friday to Sunday at Tobacco Dock in Wapping, will gather over 300 elite tattoo artists including convention first-timer Ami James, star of the reality TV shows Miami Ink and NY Ink.
The tattoo artists will be exhibiting their talent in (and on) the public, working in their unique style in 13 sterile halls.
Roland Hyams, spokesperson for the convention, told EastLondonLines: “This year is probably going to be bigger, better and we’ll have more events and more artists than before.
“Great bands, great attractions. It will definitely have an artistic vibe to it.”
Alongside famous tattoo artists, a number of musical acts have been confirmed for the convention, including Neville Staple, who will be headlining the Voodoo Crypt stage on Saturday, and Lucifer Star Machine, who will be playing on Friday.
Among the many performers, Lucky Hell, ‘The Sword Swallowing Painted Lady’ will present a “death defying” repertoire, while The Fuel Girls show the audience their fire breathing skills.
The Amsterdam Tattoo Museum will come to London for the first time to exhibit their range of tattoo-related artifacts from all over the world. Ancient tattoo machines, photos and drawings are among the objects that will be displayed.
Visitors will also have the chance to participate contests including ‘Best of Day’, ‘Best Back Piece’, ‘Best Colours’, ‘Best Black and Grey’ and ‘Best of Show’.
