Police investigating a fatal stabbing in Hackney have arrested a man in connection with the murder.

Tommy Lawrence, 28 was found outside the Glyn Arms pub in Mandeville Street, Clapton with stab wounds. He was taken to an East London hospital but later died.

Martin Ward, 23, was arrested on Saturday 29 October on suspicion of the murder. Three other men who were arrested alongside Ward have now all been released without charge.

The victim was believed to have been involved in an altercation inside the pub shortly before he was found with stab wounds in the street outside.

The street in which the victim was found is near to what was famously known as “Murder Mile” – an area in Clapton that saw a large number of shootings and stabbings ten years ago.

Recently Clapton has gone through a regeneration process. The reintroduction of Chatsworth Road Market has improved community relations in the area.
